Judges & Technical Controllers

Judges

OAAS judges are officials trained by USAAS to evaluate athletes during competitions in figures and routines. They are drawn from coaches, athletes, parents, and other people dedicated to the sport of artistic swimming.​

USAAS-qualified judges are required to undergo online and/or in-person training, pass a written or electronic test, and complete practice judging at the required level. 

Technical Controllers

Technical Controllers are responsible for evaluating the technical aspects of routines. They are broken into two categories: Difficulty Technical Controllers (DTCs) and Synchronization Technical Controllers (STCs)

DTCs are responsible for verifying elements in technical and free routines in real time, as well as annotating any technical errors. STCs are responsible for annotating synchronization errors in routines with two or more athletes,
